Our Hampton Inn San Diego-Downtown hotel is ideally located close to some of downtown San Diego’s most popular districts: the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, and Little Italy. Take an afternoon or an evening (or two) to explore these places – all three are within minutes of our Hampton Inn and easily accessible by trolley.
The Gaslamp Quarter is a historic, twenty-block district known for its beautiful Victorian buildings as well as its abundance of shopping and dining. If you love to shop, you’ll be tempted by the Gaslamp Quarter’s fashion retailers, galleries, jewelers, and great assortment of boutiques. If you love to eat, you’ll find a wonderful selection of restaurants – everything from steakhouses to sushi, and Mediterranean to Mexican. But no matter where you shop or dine in the Gaslamp Quarter, you’re certain to love the unique, vintage surroundings.
You’ll also find plenty of nightlife in the Gaslamp Quarter. After dark, there’s something for everyone: sleek and sophisticated lounges, thumping dance clubs, and just about everything in between. You’re almost certain to be glad that our Hampton Inn hotel is located just a mile from the Gaslamp.
Old Town is another San Diego neighborhood that we recommend visiting. Like the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town has retained a lot of architectural charm from times past. But unlike the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town is a place where history and culture take center stage. Here in Old Town, you’ll find lovely parks, several museums on historic sites, and several tours that reveal the history of old San Diego – it’s a wonderful place for the whole family to explore, and it’s located less than three miles from our hotel.
Another one of San Diego’s districts, Little Italy, has been enjoying an amazing transformation since the mid-nineties – today it’s one of our favorite places to visit. After decades of decline, Little Italy successfully transformed the tired streets of old into dynamic new places to live, work, shop, and dine; they pay tribute to Little Italy’s proud immigrant heritage while stepping boldly into the future. Today you’ll find an assortment of fun public artworks, handsome piazzas, hip boutiques, and excellent restaurants to explore – and you can walk to them from our hotel.
After a full day or evening exploring some of our favorite San Diego neighborhoods, you’ll look forward to relaxing at our Hampton Inn. Here you’ll enjoy comfortable rooms and spacious suites – all with free Wi-Fi, 32″ flat-screen HD TVs, and great amenities like a free hot breakfast, sparkling pool, and state-of-the-art fitness center. You’ll have a wonderful stay at our Hampton Inn San Diego-Downtown, so book a room or suite today!
